Pomegranate Sheera/Rava Kesari (Sooji Halwa)
(Indian pudding)

This is an Indian dessert that's like a thick pudding, cut into squares. This one, from a guest recipe on the blog of Flavors n Colors, is made of sooji/rava/farina (like cream of wheat), and pomegranate juice, as well as sugar, a pinch of salt, cardamom, and coconut oil (in place of ghee). I used store-bought pomegranate juice, in place of fresh. The Sheera is served chilled. It was marvelous! Sweet, but not too sweet, with the flavor of pomegranate. I like it with some spicy Indian snacks.

Pomegranate-Apple Slushie

This consisted of apple juice mixed with a bit of pomegranate syrup, and poured into an ice-cream maker. I had really wanted some apple juice, but then once I had it, I knew I could never finish it all before it went bad. So, I made a "slushie" out of it! That used it up quite nicely, it could stay in the freezer for a while, and the result was very cold, refreshing, and delicious

Pomegranate Syrup on Peaches & Cream Sorbet

I was trying to document the exciting process of drizzling Pomegranate Syrup onto Peaches & Cream Sorbet. Although I wasn't able to photograph the end of the process, I think you get the idea.

Vanilla Muhalabiya (Pudding) Ice Cream with Pomegranate Syrup

The ice cream, which was a Middle Eastern pudding that I froze, wasn't photographing well by itself. (My camera has trouble with very light monocolor foods like this.) Since I'd eaten it a few times served with the syrup, I tried that approach of photographing it; this seemed to work better. For the syrup, I boiled some pomegranate juice with a simple syrup, and it was successful, if a bit too sweet. I must say, though, that it went very well with the ice cream!

Strawberry-Pomegranate & Cream Sorbet

This is based on the sorbet recipe of Gemma Stafford. This sorbet contains frozen strawberries and some pomegranate syrup. There's no actual cream in the sorbet, but I added twice as much sweetened condensed milk as the recipe called for. (The homemade sweetened condensed milk recipe is also from Gemma Stafford.) I made the pomegranate syrup from store-bought pomegranate juice. Very bright and colorful!
